Yesterday I had a scary moment as a mom. : ) Kinda funny now looking back on it. So yesterday after his nap, Johnathan was having fun running around and playing. Well then he ran into his room and shut the door (he likes to play that game sometimes). But this time, he LOCKED THE DOOR!!! So he locked himself into his room! I went up to the door saying, "you silly, did you shut your door"...tried to open it, and it was locked! I go, "Oh Nooo Johnathan, can you unlock the door?" And he yells out, "Yeahhh!". But of course, he doesn' know how to unlock it. So I started panicing and saying, "Hold on Johnathan, Mommy will come get you." I got a nut pick out from a drawer and tried to put it in the hole in the doorknob and messed all around trying to unlock it. It did not work for the life of me. Maybe 5 minutes had passed now and I was freaking out saying, "Are you okay Johnathan?" And he'd go "Yeah". Then I'd say, "Mommy's trying to unlock your door". Then he started crying because he could tell I couldn't get in. So I started calling everyone because nobody was answering their cellphone. I called Nate, then I called my Mom, then Rachel, then finally got ahold of Jen. She basically said to keep trying and if I can't get it, call a locksmith. Luckily I never had to do that. I started calling Nate over and over and over again till he finally answered. He told me there was a little rod key thing above some of the doors that is for that purpose. I found one right above HIS door, and put it in the hole, and turned it right away. Probably 10-12 minutes had passed, but he was alright inside. I just had that panicked feeling of being separated from your child. : )
The other story is that same day, I was around the corner taking clothes out of the dryer. And Johnathan ran up to me and goes, "Beeeeeee!". He calls all bugs "bee". So he was saying bee very excitedly and pointing towards the kitchen. So I go, "Okay bubba, show me the bee". So he takes my finger and pulls me down the hall and into the kitchen and then points to the floor. It was a SPIDER crawling really fast across the floor! I grabbed a tissue and got it and told him, "It's a spider bubba! And Momma got it!" Thank goodness he came running for me to show me. I have a good spider scout now! : ) hee hee. (Two actually...him and our cat Denver).
