Pulled to standing

Well, yesterday March 29th, Johnathan (for the 1st time!) pulled himself up to standing! I couldn't believe it. I was doing laundry and he was right next to me. He was sitting by a full laundry basket, and I look over and he had grabbed the edge of the basket and pulled himself all the way up! In a second, when I looked over at him, he was standing up by himself! Couldn't believe it! It didn't last long, but he is getting stronger.

Video of Jim dancing Johnathan around

Uncle Jim didn't know I was video'ing him, which makes this even cuter.

Uncle Jim's visit!

Angie's Uncle Jim came to Colorado for business and stopped by for a visit. He met Johnathan for the 1st time, saw our house, and bought dinner for us at Carraba's. Like always, we had so much fun with him. He thought Johnathan was a smiley baby. This was on March 24th (weds).

Ready for Church

"I'll chew the spoon, but you can keep the food"

Johnathan is SO close to crawling!

8 Months Old!

Johnathan is 8 months old today! I can't believe how fast the time has gone and how different he is from when he was a newborn. Two days ago, he went to the clinic for the 2nd part of his flu shots and I asked if I could weigh him while we were there. He was 18 lbs and 5 oz! I was amazed. Here he was last week when it was sunny and we went for a jog. But 2 nights ago we had a major snow storm in Denver. Crazy weather and good times.

Fun at the Neighbors

Turtle Man

Our neighbors, Ted & Aniva, have this real turtle shell from Samoa....and they were telling me the story that when their daughter was a baby (many yrs ago), they took a picture of her like this. They had the idea to try it on Johnathan since he is about the same size. It worked well! This was so fun and funny! We were all laughing pretty hard.

Change in Bedtime

It's funny because Johnathan used to go to bed at 5:30pm. I know, really early right? Well it was starting to creep closer to 6pm as the sun was staying up later. But now with the sudden time change, he goes to bed at 7 pm! That's just crazy (yes, we're wild and crazy) for us because it is kinda a big evening-lifestyle change for our family. Nate used to often miss seeing him all together because baby would be in bed before he got home from work. But now, Johnathan is up till 7pm so Nate always sees him when he gets home from work, and we might even be able to do stuff again in the evenings (like go out to dinner, or go for a family walk/jog). It's kindof exciting. And we are definitely getting more family time which is REALLY nice.

More playground fun

We have 2 parks right by our house which we will love while Johnathan is growing up here. Lots of free playgrounds! : )

Then and Now... : )

5 days old, and then 7 months old.
Much heavier now...and we didn't want to chance the "no diaper" this time. : )

All My Children

Since I'm "the mama", I can say this: Here's all my kids lined up. : ) hee hee

First playground swing

This is Johnathan's first time in a playground swing! He fits it pretty good already. He's a little small in it but he's steady at least. I was swingin' him good and he had no problems. I'm so excited for the spring to come and we can be outdoors more!

Great Picture of Nate & Johnathan

I just went out to lunch with our neighbors Ted & Aniva (and 2 of their friends) at a mexican restaurant. It is SO nice to have such nice neighbors! We are very lucky. They are like our Colorado grandparents. : ) They even paid for my meal. And Johnathan loves them both. I'm so glad we found this house.

His First Tooth!

We have our FIRST TOOTH!!! How exciting! It happened today, March 1st. He went to playfully bite my chin (like he does), and I felt something sharp in there. So I felt his gums with my finger and low and behold...there is a sharp little tooth budding down there! And I actually think he has two down there. They are sharp little buggers, so I definitely need to completely discourage the chewing of my chin anymore...huh?! : ) In a couple weeks, our boy will have a toothy grin.

Nikki, & baby Shelby

My friend Nikki (a Midwife at my hospital) and her two girls came over today. We had a fun playdate! Her older girl Mackenzie is 3 & 1/2, and her baby Shelby is just 3 days older than Johnathan! She was born July 22nd. And she is remarkably advanced for her age! She is already crawling everywhere, and even cruising and transferring from one piece of furniture to another. It was amazing to see! You can see she crawled under Johnathan in his Jumperoo. : )
Johnathan was trying to give her hugs.

Allergic Reacton

Hi,
I forgot to tell you about Johnathan's first allergic reaction! I wanted to try baby yogurt for him...so at the store, I bought this brand called "Yobaby". It looked good and it was all organic. But I fed it to Johnathan one day last week and he had his first reaction to a food. Nate thinks it was due to the live cultures in that yogurt and that maybe his intestines aren't ready for it yet. Nate himself has digestional reactions to certain yogurts and it doesn't sit well with him.
So what happened was I fed it to him in the late morning. And he LOVED it too! He ate a ton! He loved the flavor...too bad this happened to a food he actually likes. And then I didn't notice anything until about 4:30 pm that night when I undressed him for his bath. He had a total body rash ALL OVER! Poor guy! I finished his bath & when Nate got home, I showed him his rash and he agreed it must have been the yogurt. So no more yogurt for a few months! Johnathan seemed okay then, but later that night at about 8:30pm, he woke up and was crying and probably hurting in his tummy. So I went out at 9:15pm to Target and got some children's benadryl. Gave him some of that and the rash got much better quickly and he eventually went back to bed.

Birthday date for Nate...Hibachi Grill!

We got to go on another date last night, Feb 28th! It was so fun and I was so looking forward to it! : ) I suprised Nate with everything. He didn't know where we were going or with who. So I took him to the Shinjuku Hibachi Grill (we haven't dined like that in probably 9 years!). And then I suprised him with Doug & Eiko showing up. So we both got babysitters. Aniva, our neighbor across the street watched Johnathan, but again he slept the whole time and she didn't have to do anything. Luckily she did it for free. She just watched TV at our house instead of hers.

The food was FABULOUS! And we loved the showiness of the cook. Yum Yum! Afterwards, we were going to go bowling, but all the lanes were full. So we just went to the Bent Fork for dessert, which was also delicious. It was so fun to just hang out the 4 of us again. We hadn't done that since before we had our babies. Good company and good laughs.

Baby Moves

Here's pictures of Johnathan's moves. : ) First he was doing the yoga move to see the Denver kitty. Then in his red shirt, that's how he leans forward kinda getting into crawling position. I'm starting to keep things just out of reach sometimes, to help give him incentive to lean forward.
