Jan here to visit

Jan came to visit us from June 5th through the 8th. We had a lot of fun with Johnathan! We went to a birthday party for a friend's 2 yr old. We went walking by a river and in Jewell wetlands. We went to the Denver Zoo and went on another hike at Mt. Falcon park. Lots of fun in colorado!

Hike with Eiko, June 3rd

We took pictures of this because it was so funny/sad. Johnathan fell completely asleep on our way back on the hike. He was so slumped over his head was bouncing and it was almost touching my shoulder. Poor tired baby! : ( : )

Here's more OK. pictures

Here's Nate in the pool with Johnathan and cousin Hunter.

Here's most of this side of the family. Uncle Dan & Aunt Ginny, and kids Tammy (& John), Steven, Julie, and grandkids River, Hunter, and Miriam.

Nate's Oklahoma trip

On Memorial Day weekend, Nathan, Johnathan, and Grandma Jan flew to Oklahoma City and then drove to Altus, OK where Jan's family is from. It was Jan's parent's 60th Anniversary and there was a surprise party for them. Johnathan apparently LOVED the balloons!

This is Johnathan's Great Grandpa Ray Iken.
This is Gma Jan, Aunt Ginny, and Great Grandma Sue Iken out in the yard on a hot day.

Another Then & Now (bouncy seat)

I stuck Johnathan in the bouncy seat again just for a picture and look at this hilarious difference. He of course was trying to climb out of it even though he was still buckled in. Definitely not safe anymore. : )

Peacock Attack!

I have a hilarious story! So a couple weeks back when Jan was here; Johnathan, her & I went to the Denver Zoo on Monday, June 7th. Nate was taking his big test. So soon after we got there, we saw a beautiful male peacock. It was great! I got beautiful pictures of him all flared out. His wing-span of feathers was HUGE! So we were showing him to Johnathan, and it's like he suddenly saw Johnathan in the stroller and he turned toward him and started RUNNING at him while hissing and flaring out his tongue. (It was immediately after I took that second picture!) I was so scared for my baby, so I quickly got in between Johnathan and the crazy male peacock. And I think that was what stopped his ATTACK. : ) It scared Johnathan to death though and he was crying and screaming. My poor boy. I felt so bad for him and I didn't want him to have a fear of pretty peacock's. But I was so mad at that possessive crazy bird that is no different than a stupid turkey other than it has prettier feathers.
(Think of Johnathan's view...this new animal was charging towards him that was the size of a rhinoceros and had a hundred eyes!)
So just wait...the story gets better!!!

Last night, we saw on 9 News a news report of a peacock at Denver Zoo that attacked a 3 year old boy on Thursday and pecked and clawed at him so much that it sent him to the hospital! He was all cut up on his face and his nose was torn down to the cartilage!!! The boy had to have a bunch of stitches and apparently his face looked so bad his parents didn't want to show a picture of him on the news. I feel SO bad for this boy; that could have been Johnathan! Think how scared he must have been!
And Denver Zoo was like, "This has never happened before!". But now they are looking into if it is safe for peacocks to be roaming freely about the zoo grounds. They did say that currently this particular peacock is in containment being "monitored". I bet you ANYTHING it is the same peacock! I called the zoo the next day and I also emailed them. I told them the story and I told them I have pictures of this guy in case they want to compare them. Maybe this is just a "problem peacock" and needs to be sent to "peacock wooded acres" or to "peacock heaven". : )

Big boy and daddy

Johnathan is getting to be such a big boy. He definitely doesn't look like a baby to me anymore. He is like a toddler now. Especially when I come home from work, working with newborns all day...then when I see Johnathan again, I always go, "Oh my gosh...you're getting soooo big!". And I tell Nate he looks bigger to me; but I think it's just because he's so much bigger than those 1-3 day old newborns. : )
He is doing very well. He cruises around all the furniture and walls. He just doesn't have the balance/confidence to stand on his own yet or try walking yet. But he does walk with his pushing walker. He's been napping well and eating solid foods better. He loves Gerber's "crunchies". Nate calls them "baby crack" because Johnathan get's so excited and wants more and more...almost demanding them. I'm looking back on my old calendar a lot to see what we were doing this time last year. And it's fun to think about how big my belly was this time last year.

Unexpected visit from Lacey Lopez!

This was actually back on May 17th. The Lopez's suddenly surprised me with a visit when they were stuck in Denver overnight coming back from their Disney Cruise to Atlantis. They missed their connecting flight. So I got to spend most of the day on that monday with them. I haven't seen them in years! This is Merial, Anibal, Kadmiel, Ang, Lacey, Karinna, and Johnathan. They have such cute kids! It was a fun surprise.
